• River Street Revitalization o Phase 1: Boat Ramp Improvements. Completed August 2023 o Phase 2: New Surface for River Street itself – August 2023 P a g e 3 | 3 LEAKESVILLE PROJECTS AND GRANTS o August 14, 2024: Letter sent to Senator Hyde-Smith requesting assistance in reopening the old bridge for pedestrian traffic. o Phase 3: Long term lease for additional parking on shoulder of River Street near boat ramp.
• Lafayette Ave Emergency Repairs - $324, 879.28 o July 1st ,2022: Hole detected in surface of Lafayette Ave roadway. After investigation it was determined that the culverts had separated and had washed most of the material holding up the surface of the road. Engineers contacted. o July 5th, 2022: Board declares a state of emergency and closes the roadway. o July 6th, 2022: Work begins on drafting a response plan to fix issue. o August 12th, 2022: Engineers submit preliminary engineering plans o August-October 13th: Engineering plans are updated more than 8 times. Advertisement for bids for project submitted. o January 2023: Phase 1 begins. Removal of old culverts and materials. o February 2023: Phase 2 begins. Installation of headwalls and bulkheads o March 2023: Installation of culverts, backfill materials. Rough roadbed. Ditches on both sides of road are lined with concrete to avoid future problems. o April 2023: Final layers of asphalt put into place. Bridge Reopened.
• Gallows Branch Bridge Rehabilitation Emergency - $58,200 o September 2022: Inspection of bridge indicates imminent failure o September 15th, 2022: Board declares a state of emergency for Gallows Branch Bridge. o October 2022: Specialist brought in to replace and repair bridge pilings and headwalls. Surface of bridge removed back to original bridge decking. o January 2023: Final surface added to bridge.
